Kindergarten

*A child must be 5 on or before August 15 to enroll in Kindergarten.

Our kindergarten language program introduces students to the joys of reading and writing. Phonics immersion equips students with skills in letters, sounds, one- and two-vowel words, and consonant blends. Within a few weeks of our opening day, students are ready to begin reading Primary Phonics fun books with simple plots and characters. Our commitment to mastering the art of handwriting begins in kindergarten. Students practice formation of all upper- and lower-case letters. Skills of handwriting and phonics meet when students learn to scribe short dictated sentences.

Our Kindergarten Arithmetic curriculum reinforces colors, shapes, patterns, and counting while developing the skills of writing numbers and the basic facts of adding and subtracting numbers from 0-5. Students will also be exposed to the introductory concepts of time, money, and measurement as well as addition and subtraction through 10.
